Fair Usage Policy

In principle, there is no limit to the storage available to each individual user or group of users active on the Periscope system.

In practice though, we recognise the possibility that a very small number of users might take up a disproportionately high level of storage space in comparison to other users.

Periscope’s Fair Usage Policy therefore recognises the need to protect all users from such a potential imbalance and enforces this protection by setting a Reasonable Limit.

Periscope considers that a Reasonable Limit on the amount of storage is 1 Gigabyte per agency per year. Experience to date has shown that an agency of 12 users is unlikely to exceed the Reasonable Limit in the first 3 years of use.

Periscope regularly monitors storage levels and will, should the need arise, take the following course of action:

  1. Periscope will contact the user by email to notify him or her that they have reached 90% of the Reasonable Limit.
  2. Periscope will subsequently contact the user by email to notify him or her that they have reached 100% of the Reasonable Limit. Should the user respond with a request to access storage over and above the Reasonable Limit, Periscope will, at its discretion, offer to provide such extra storage at an appropriate ongoing cost to the user.
  3. Should the user exceed the Reasonable Limit and ignore the notification or decline to pay for storage above the Reasonable Limit, Periscope reserves the right to remove such user from the system without further warning.
